No mater what I tried to get the heavy RPS clutch to disengage ( adjusting, different rod length) it did not work properly on a hot day. At the drag strip was 80F and after a burnout I had trouble operating the clutch thinking there is something wrong with the pressure plate. Off the line I could not shift to second gear and had to double clutch it and lost lots of time. I was almost about to remove the transmission for clutch inspection and decided to change the 3 year old genuine clutch master cylinder anyway after hearing from local parts store that there is high volume master cylinder listed for 95 and 96 tt. $50 cost its 10mm longer than the genuine giving it more volume and throw. I installed it and clutch works great. Pedal is softer and easier to operate. Shifting is much improved, now it goes in every gear nice and smooth. I haven't done any adjustments. I inspected the play between the slave cylinder rod and fork, 1mm of play. That’s to make sure the clutch is not adjusted too much. I had to slightly bend the fluid line back to fit longer master cylinder.
